THE NATIONAL PROJECT WEEK 5 : EXPERIMENTATION

While building the model, I also wanted to help my group mates.

MONDAY 2ND DECEMBER

AMELIE'S ARDUINO WATERFALL

Amelie was trying to recreate the idea of a glowing/interactive waterfall using ardino and 3D printing methods. The blue lights will flicker in a downward direction like raindrops, which is intended to be relaxing to look at. First she printed the waterfall, then coded the arduino. We sewed led's to fabric and connected it to a circuit playground, and after a few trial and errors we made it work, for the most part.  We spent a few lessons trying to achieve this.

Amelie printing off a mini waterfall because she's a wiz at Bambu Lab.

Materials.
Materials.

I helped by sewing LED lights onto blue fabric to mimic the interactive water, using conductive thread.

When sewing the LED lights into fabric I had to make sure all the positive charge must be separate from the negatives, that the thread wrapped around each LED hole multiple times whilst maintaining string tension and fabric flexibility, all without the tread being visible on the other side.

FRIDAY 6TH

 Super fiddly.

TESTING

 Worked but it can improve.

There must have been an error in the sewing, string must have more tension to conduct better.

REDOING IT ALL.

Trying to figure out what placement of LED's will improve conductivity.

FOREST BRIGDE

I wanted to recreate Amelie's idea of a tree bridge into our model to pass over the river, similar to those in Meghalaya, India.

Meanwhile it was her turn resewing the lights, I began 3D modelling the bridge in Nomad using these references loosely, for Amelie to then print off in miniature size.

Neither the bridge or the Arduino waterflall end up happening, since the first 3D print broke and Amelie was off sick, so we could not continue without her skills. But I'm glad we experimented with these ideas because it's still valuable experience.
