Antonio Roberts is a digital artist, musician and DJ. Today he came in and taught us how to make music using code and honestly it was a really cool learning experience for all of us. Considering a lot of my classmates are either musicians or musically curious, I think just by watching him turn really generic beats ( like A..B..C ) into incredible sounds surprised us all.
FKA Twigs, Jhene Aiko, XXXTENTACION, The Internet, Soapkills, Flying Lotus, Radiohead, ARCA, Kelela, Sevdaliza, SZA.. some of my favourite musicians embrace electronic sound. There's something about jarring beats and transient frequencies that I resonate a lot with but despite wanting to make music I never ventured into the technological side of it. Perhaps that is why I enjoyed Antonio's workshop so much, because he introduced me to a weird and simple way of producing music using accessible software and showed us the potential it has.
